If there’s a Star Wars fan in your house, who likes drawing, even just a little bit, then this book is for you.  ART2-D2’s Guide to Folding and Doodling shows you how to become a Jedi Master of making and doodling your very own Star Wars figures.  Created by Tom Angleberger of the New York Times Origami Yoda fame.

You can win a copy of Tom Angleberger’s ‘ART2-D2’s Guide to Folding and Doodling’ to celebrate Star Wars Day! (May the 4th) Just tell us which Star Wars character you would like to be and why by leaving a comment at the end.

The nine year old – Star Wars enthusiast and budding origami folder -fell on this book when I brought it home.  Within half an hour, paper R2-D2s and C3POs were beeping around the kitchen table.

Next General Grevious appeared, and could fight Yoda!

ART2-D2s Guide to Folding and Doodling is great for encouraging kids to have the confidence to draw the things they want to – and to get the results they want.  If your child is a stuck on drawing stick figures, Origami Yoda says “Stick figures to the dark side only lead,” and shows you easy steps to draw origami Yoda or Vader – and quickly – because no-one likes hanging around!  There are games, jokes, and coloured origami paper, special backgrounds for photographing your Star Wars creation.  The nine year old agrees saying ” I like it because it’s very funny, games and things to make and because I like origami, doodling and Star Wars”.

You can upload your own creations too, to Tom Angleberger’s blog and share your Yoda-like wisdom.

This book is one of a series of Origami Yoda books including Darth Paper Strikes Back, and with a new title arriving in August; The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppet.   The review and giveaway copies of ART2-D2’s Guide to Folding and Doodling have been kindly provided by publishers Abrams Chronicle Books.  Published April 2013.

There are lots of great ways to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, and entering this competition is surely one of the best!

R2-D2. No one understands me anyway, but my closest friends anyway, but at least if I were R2, they’d have a good reason. Also I’d love to speak in nice shorthand. And I’d get to help run the ship and be part of every battle.
